Bachelor of Nursing Science Program (International Program)

Philosophy, Significance, and Objectives of the Program

It is the conviction of the Faculty of Nursing at Thammasat University that providing nursing education is a developmental process, one that enhances the students’ ability to become a nurse that is knowledgeable and skillful, and aware of moral and ethical issues. In order to respond to the healthcare system needs and social and economic changes, the educational system should enhance the learning environment, recognize the students’ individual differences, and provide an opportunity for students to participate in the learning process and continue to learn. The educational system should also emphasize the teaching methods employed and the extra-curricular activities provided, ensuring that they enhance the students’ critical thinking, creative problem-solving and communication skills, their sense of responsibility, justice, and self-discipline, and their ability to live in decent and safe ways. In addition, the educational system should utilize various and modern technologies in teaching.

Students that have graduated must be knowledgeable of nursing and related sciences. They should also be aware of changes in the present and those that might occur in the future, be respectful of themselves and other’s rights, considerate, have a volunteer mentality, and be responsible, kind, and able to provide holistic care, including health promotion, prevention, cure, and nursing therapeutics. Additionally, graduates should have a deep attachment to and a positive attitude toward the nursing profession, and have the desire to improve themselves and their work continuously. They should also be able to engage effectively in nursing management and be able to work as a team and with other healthcare professions efficiently.

Program Objectives

Undergraduates in the Bachelor of Nursing Science Program shall possess the following attributes:

  1. Knowledgeable in nursing and related fields
  2. Knowledgeable in nursing research, be able to apply evidence-based knowledge and research results into nursing practice
  3. Be capable of utilizing nursing process to provide holistic care
  4. Be capable of providing nursing care under professional ethics and law
  5. Possess leadership skills and be able to work with other healthcare professionals
  6. Be capable of working and living under social norm and ethics
  7. Have attachment and positive attitude toward the nursing profession
  8. Be capable of thinking critically and solving problems creativity
  9. Have communication skills and be able to use technology efficiently
  10. Be responsible for themselves and society and improve themselves continuously

Program Expected Learning Outcomes: PELOs

The ability of students that graduate with a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.S.) from Thammasat University will be equal to that of students that graduate from international institutions as follows:

  1. Describe knowledge in nursing fields
  2. Describe knowledge in related fields
  3. Describe knowledge in research process, innovation development process and be able to apply evidence-based into nursing.
  4. Be capable of utilizing nursing process to provide holistic care and be able to apply evidence-based into nursing care under professional ethics and law, taking into account culturally different societies
  5. Able to manage nursing and work with multidisciplinary
  6. Express their professional personality and practice nursing based on morality and ethics.
  7. Able to think, analyze, solve problems creatively.
  8. Able to communicate and use technology effectively. Both spoken and written English plus other skills covering 21st century learning skills
  9. Express their responsibility towards oneself and society. And constantly develop oneself

Academic System

The Bachelor of Nursing Science Program is a full-time program and is self-funded. The duration of each semester is described as follows:
Semester 1: August-December
Semester 2: January-May
Summer: June-July

Program Format

  • Format: Bachelor of Nursing Science Program, 4-Year Syllabus
  • Language of Instruction: The program is conducted in English.
  • Admission: Both Thai and foreign students
  • Participation with Other Institutions: The program belongs to Thammasat University
  • Degree When Graduated: Degree will be granted in nursing science only
